Book Review

I wasn’t going to write any more book reviews, however last year I had the absolute pleasure of Vanessa Jean Boscarello Ovens, co-author of the book ‘Gifts of the Essential Oils’ joining my Diploma of Clinical Aromatherapy course. As a teacher, it is wonderful to have students like Vanessa Jean, who share such a passion for this wonderful art we call aromatherapy.
First impressions of the book begin with the cover. Opened out and you see a beautiful vista of a tree with massive roots and fabulous lighting, a wonderful way to be drawn into any book. The beauty of the illustrations meanders all the way through this wonderful book. What more could you ask? Reader friendly? Yes, it has that also, the book oozes love and appreciation for the wonderful gift of essential oils.
When I say that it is a wonderful coffee table book, I don’t mean as a book that just sits there and is admired, but rather, I just want it right there in front of me, ready to pick up and enjoy. It will give the reader who is a complete novice in aromatherapy the ability to create blends which will enhance their lives from both a therapeutic and spiritual perspective. In addition, although I have taught aromatherapy for many, many years, and probably have thousands of aromatic blends filed away in my head, I have been able to use this book to find the specific blends that were exactly what I needed in that moment.
This book is a valuable asset to all, whether novice or professional.
